The ‘Barefoot’ exhibition in Rome. The work of art created from a shoe box.
About 50 international artists will take part in the exhibition inside the ‘Centro Sociale Brancaleone’ in Rome: all of the artists were given an identical sho box. “The theme of the exhibition is Liberty - explain the organizers – liberty from mass market obligations to freedom of speech”
The ‘Barefoot’ is a one week long contemporary art exhibition which will be officially opened on June 1st in the ‘Centro Sociale Brancaleone’ in Rome. An original idea: an identical shoe box was given to 50 artists who in turn created a work of art. The aim is to show how equality doesn’t discourage individual choices values it exalts them.
And so with names like: Nanni Balestrini, Marco Colazzo, Ileana Florescu, Paola Gandolfi, H. H. Lim, Pierluigi Isola, Mojimir Jezek, Franco Mulas, Pizzi Cannella, Prsendic Nikola,Pupillo, Cloti Ricciardi, Fiorella Rizzo, Pino Salvatori, Barbara Salvucci, Heidrun Sandbichler, Maurizio Savini, Silvia Stucky, Valerio Pisano and many others have signed their original works and agreed to speak about homologation and differences.
During the exhibition another event will also be held, a preview of Roberto Gramiccia’s book ‘Slot Art Machine. Il grande business dell’arte contemporanea’ (Paolo Aita, Paolo Ferrero, Alberto Olivetta and Simona Marchini will be reading passages from the book. This will all take place on the occasion of the promotion of INDY Fiera del gusto non omologato’ from the 1st to the 3rd of June. An event promoted by AlfaBeta2, DeriveApprodi and Radio Popolare where different initiatives will be directed towards the increase of value towards an independent culture of publishing, art, music, cinema and wine and food by recommending practical products and practices or customs capable of showing the current alternative approach compared to the control and power of the mass monopolistic distributions.
“The theme of this exhibition – explain the organizers, Valentina and Roberto Gramiccia is Liberty and Freedom. From the obligations and bonds of mass markets to the freedom of speech. And for us freedom and liberty lean on equality, we wanted to put everything on the same level in a symbolic way so as to cancel any differences. The young and not so young participants, known and unknown artists, painters and sculptors, installation artists and visual artists. We fully believe that equality is worth fighting for and if equality is missing in life then so too is liberty. We want to imply how independent culture is capable of surviving even though it is outside the mass distributions and has nothing to do with quality”.
