Emanuela Ravot

A series of inventions, games, nonsense and provocations, all of which novel, are Valerio Pisano’s  recent artistic commitments. A railing which embraces a scent bottle filled with water and some iron is the work of art that gives its name to this exhibition ‘The scent of railings’ already presented in Gavoi in conjunction with the exhibition ‘l’isola delle storie’  and at the Argenteria for the festival ‘Sulla terra leggeri’. It will also be shown from 3rd to 5th September in Tortolì at the ‘ex blocchiera’

Valerio Pisano began his artistic tradition creating some scissors for split ends but you can also find in his works a flick knife cross, a whistle bell, a book handle, a dummy for baby birds, a coffee pot, a fishing guitar and much more.

16 years ago Valerio Pisano started producing his first sketches, beautiful but unlikely drawings created whilst he was listening to lectures and conferences or while he was at dinner or at work. In a short time he had put together more than 200 rough sketches which he then finalized by computer and hand until the international display promoted by the association Rossovelante where he put together 23 works of art. Using a programme for architects he reproduced all of the rough sketches in 3D and in colour and uploaded them to his website www.valeriopisano.it so receiving numerous recognitions and admiration for his work. Francesco Manca compares him to Lewis Carroll because of his visionary irony and other creative ways of seeing everyday objects.

…Valerio is now busy at work with the sculptor Gianleonardo Viglino in an artistic movement called TuNneLlagio: a travelling exhibition held inside the road tunnels in Sardinia.

Actually this display is to inform people about both the lack of space for exhibitions and incentives to finance artistic projects. In fact Valerio Pisano says “to be known as an artist you must have a cv rich in exhibitions and displays held inside the most influent art galleries, these road tunnels can be used pretty well in order to make our point and inform the public about the difficulty artists have creating a decent  cv “.
